One of our very first models magnified by the work of Okinawan artisans. Called Hotaru© which means firefly, these pearls glow in the night like the famous bio-luminescent insects. Each pearl is handmade from colored glass paste on which the craftsman deposits a silver or gold leaf and phosphorescent powder, a precise gesture that must be done at the right temperature and which gives the pearl its magnificent reflections.
Traditional Hotaru© beads are charged with light and give it back once immersed in darkness. Comparable to the light emitted by fireflies, it is this phenomenon that owes its name of firefly bead to this treasure of Japanese craftsmanship.
