Les Cornes stands alongside Le Doigt in the Manus Impia collection: the same sterling silver skeleton hand, wrist wrapped in a knotted band, this time throwing up the horns — index and pinky raised. The gesture comes from the Mediterranean, where it once warded off the evil eye and mocked the cuckold blind to his own disgrace — an insult crude enough to be banned from polite company. 1970s hard rock picked it up and flipped its meaning: raised toward the stage, it no longer wards off bad luck, it claims it, brandished as a refusal of respectable morality and the religious order that once demonized the music itself.
